Charlie and Kris had a clear vision: a twilight-inspired minimalist look, perfect for their enchanting wedding on the island of Sark which is renowned for its breathtakingly dark night skies.
Central to their wedding stationery was a bespoke wedding icon that captured the essence of twilight and Sark's dark night skies. I designed a minimalist moon and stars motif, embodying the serene and enchanting quality of the night sky. This icon became the cornerstone of their stationery suite, setting a sophisticated yet whimsical tone for the event.
To complement the celestial theme, I opted for a classy typography aesthetic. Clean lines and elegant fonts were key to achieving the minimalist look both grooms desired. The invitations were printed on luxurious textured paper stock, adding a tactile element that enhanced the overall sense of elegance and sophistication.
At the couple's request, the invitation suite was designed in multiple parts. Each component was meticulously crafted to fit together seamlessly, creating a cohesive and visually stunning package. The various pieces were combined with a vellum belly band, adding an extra layer of refinement. This multi-part approach allowed for a detailed and personalized touch, giving guests an immediate sense of the thought and care put into every aspect of the wedding.
One of the highlights of the invitation suite was a custom illustrated map of Sark. This map not only served a practical purpose but also provided a beautiful and unique keepsake for the guests. Illustrated in the same minimalist style, the map highlighted key locations and added a personal touch that reflected the couple’s island wedding.
The minimalist theme extended seamlessly into the on-the-day stationery and signage. For the table plan, welcome sign, and place cards, I continued the use of the moon and stars motif, paired with the elegant typography. Each piece was designed to guide and delight guests, enhancing the overall ambiance of the wedding.
To further personalize their celebration, Charlie and Kris opted to include some DIY elements. I created a cocktail sign and a guest book sign that the couple could print themselves. These items maintained the minimalist twilight theme and allowed the couple flexibility.
Designing the wedding stationery for Charlie and Kris was a truly magical experience. The twilight-inspired minimalist theme, combined with the enchanting setting of Sark, resulted in a suite that was both elegant and personal. Every element, from the bespoke wedding icon to the custom illustrated map, was crafted with care to reflect the couple’s vision and the beauty of their special day. It was an honor to contribute to such a memorable celebration, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to bring Charlie and Kris’s dream to life through design.
